Chocolate Maker Deep Dive: ARTHOUSE Unlimited

Chocolate Maker Deep Dive: ARTHOUSE Unlimited

Sep 25, 2025Colin Rice

Arthouse Unlimited is a unique chocolate maker with a unique mission. A charity that focuses on artistic expression for those with neurodiverse mental health and physical disabilities. While they create more than just chocolate, chocolate bars are at the top tier of their offerings. Each bar comes packaged with an art piece created by one of the workshop attendees, featuring delicious chocolate on the inside and fantastic artwork on the outside.

A short history of ARTHOUSE Unlimited

Becky of ARTHOUSE Unlimited started it after studying fine art. She worked with people with disabilities in creating art and discovered that their work was tossed out afterwards. She felt like there was a way to make it so the artwork wasn’t thrown away, and that the artists were treated with respect.

Now they run workshops in Godalming, England, with small groups led by artists to encourage and guide the participants. Once finished, the art is passed onto a team of designers who maintain the original vision and art but shape it into various designer items. They don’t specialise in just chocolate, with everything from plateware to bedding, to mugs and t-shirts.

Each chocolate bar was designed by an artist featuring unique illustrations in vibrant and bright designs and colours, making each bar stand out, and echoing the flavour of each in bars.

What’s on the menu at ARTHOUSE Unlimited?

ARTHOUSE Unlimited prioritise ethically-sourced single-origin chocolate for their chocolate bars, including ingredients that have been equally sourced. They put great thought into their chocolate bars and have a huge catalogue of unique flavours with creative add-ins. Here is a sample of the chocolates they offer.

Dusty Road, 60% Dark Chocolate, Marshmallows & Biscuit

Calling all fans of Rocky Road, Dusty Road is the chocolate you’ve been waiting for. Not only is this bar fun, but it’s also delicious, featuring single-origin dark chocolate that mellows the sweetness so it’s not overloaded with sugar. The marshmallow bits sprinkled throughout add a sweet chew to the bar, and the caramelised biscuit crumb adds crunch. A texture marvel, the flavour is smooth and similar to that of s'mores. Very yummy!

Pink Rhubarb and Yellow Custard with 35% White Chocolate

Featuring a striking yellow and pink colour scheme, this white chocolate bar is delicious and reminiscent of nostalgic Barrett’s Fruit Salad sweets (iykyk). The bar is less rhubarb and custard and more fruity taste mixed with decadent sweetness. It has a sort of doughnut taste to it, but that’s not a bad thing. Definitely a great gift, and the beautiful packaging matches the colour of the bar!

60% Dark Chocolate with Smoky Crunch & Maple Syrup

This crunchy bar is perfect for those looking for a textural journey! The smooth dark chocolate makes way for the smoky crunch, making the bar taste almost like popcorn or breakfast cereals. The bar has a hint of maple syrup that enhances the sweetness, but it’s rather weak and doesn’t take away from the overall flavour balance of the bar.

40% Milk Chocolate Cheesecake with Gingernut Crunch

Looking for another unique flavour, you’ve got to try this bar. Featuring semolina throughout to mimic a cheesecake base alongside bits of ginger biscuit strewn throughout, this bar, like the one above, is full of varied texture. The bar is surprisingly lemony, with a lot of spices that work well with the sweet milk chocolate. Eating this bar gives us memories of visiting our Grans, so you’re sure to take a walk down memory lane with this chocolate.
