The Blind Chocolatier
In the heart of the Lake District, Stuart Hann, better known as The Blind Chocolatier, crafts stunning handmade chocolates from his hometown of Staveley. With vibrant designs and bold flavours, his creations are as inspiring as his story.
After training as a pastry chef, Stuart’s career took an unexpected turn in 2015 when he was diagnosed with a rare eye condition, Leber’s Hereditary Optic Neuropathy (LHON), which left him legally blind. Refusing to let this stop him, he channelled his creativity into chocolate — founding The Blind Chocolatier and developing his own methods to work by touch and memory.
Today, he produces everything from glossy truffles to striking bars, each one a work of art.
Hann's Cookies & Cream concists of smooth milk chocolate topped with crunchy cookie crumble for a texture-lovers’ dream. Also a visual showstopper, Pistachio & Almond is a beautifully hand-painted bar combining nutty depth with buttery smoothness. And the Orange & Maple white chocolate has a mix of zesty orange and rich maple syrup to make a creamy, vibrant showstopper.
Equal parts passion and perseverance, The Blind Chocolatier proves that creativity knows no limits. Each bar tells a story — one of craft, courage, and incredible flavour.
