Marou
Marou, Faiseurs de Chocolat, is a Vietnamese bean-to-bar maker celebrating the flavours, dishes, and spirit of Vietnam. Founded in 2010 by Samuel Maruta and Vincent Mourou (hence Marou), the French brand began after a chance encounter with local cacao during a camping trip — and grew into one of the world’s most distinctive chocolate makers.
Marou pairs regional beans with iconic Vietnamese flavours, creating a range that’s complex, surprising, and deeply rooted in local culture. Take their Pho Spices bar, inspired by Vietnam’s beloved noodle soup. This daring bar blends dark chocolate with pho’s signature spices — cardamom, star anise, cinnamon, coriander, and cloves.
Their Kumquat bars have a zesty twist reminiscent of chocolate orange — a bright flavour inspired by Vietnam’s festive fruit. Their Orange & Mint combines citrusy orange and cool mint with beans from the volcanic soils of Dong Nai. The result? Earthy depth meets refreshing lift.
Something different, their Vietnamese Coffee captures the taste of ca phe sua da, Vietnam’s iconic iced coffee with condensed milk. And their Ben Tre is sourced from the fertile Mekong Delta, this dark chocolate is rich, bold, and subtly coconutty.
Marou’s chocolates are more than bars — they’re a celebration of Vietnam’s flavours, people, and terroir, crafted with integrity and imagination.
