Pacari
Pacari Chocolate was founded by Santiago Peralta and Carla Barboto in Quito, Ecuador in 2002. Having begun as an initiative to train cacao farmers in Ecuador to be self-sufficient, Pacari has developed into one of the few chocolate companies that make chocolate in the same country where the beans are grown. They bring other ingredients from South America such as passionfruit, chill and coffee.
The word ‘pacari’ means ‘nature’ in Quechua (a native Andean language of the mountains of Ecuador), so it is fitting that the company does everything it can to be as eco-friendly as possible. Pacari is the only chocolate company in the world to have biodynamic certification, meaning there is no negative impact on the environment from farming.
Rated as the ‘Best Buy Ethical Chocolate’ by Ethical Consumer Magazine, not only does the company benefit the environment, but they also make delicious chocolate.
