MIA (Made In Africa) was founded in 2017 with the goal of establishing a brand that empowers African communities and brings them to the forefront. Although 70% of the world’s cacao is grown on the continent of Africa, less than 1% of the world’s chocolate is produced there. Brett and Sarah, the founders of MIA, were motivated to create MIA, a brand that produces chocolate products entirely in Africa, ensuring that the value-added process takes place locally.

Their approach not only boosts the local economy but also creates skilled job opportunities. To further make a positive impact, they have a program called 1 for Change, wherein 1% of their sales contribute to development projects in Africa. In Madagascar, MIA Green takes action to offset CO2 emissions by planting trees in a national forest, thus expanding lemur habitats. They actively engage local communities in the effort to protect these valuable forests. Their Girls' Education Fund supports vulnerable students in achieving their academic potential by covering expenses such as school fees, school lunch, and health care.

The chocolate is made in Ghana and Madagascar and is truly exceptional, with fabulous flavour combinations and a beautifully smooth texture. Their 65% Boabab and Salted Nibs Dark chocolate is infused with the sweet, tangy and fruity flavour of the African baobab tree into smooth chocolate which is then topped with crunchy cacao nibs.
