Chilli & Spiced Chocolate
Chilli chocolate might sound outrageous to the spice-shy, but this fiery combo has been enjoyed for thousands of years. From ancient rituals to modern artisan bars, chilli and chocolate have always been destined to share the same square.
Chilli contains capsaicin, the compound that delivers that addictive heat. When paired with chocolate, capsaicin makes sweetness linger longer and amplifies cocoa’s natural depth. For many, it’s the tingle that seals the deal — spice + chocolate is a thrilling flavour ride.
If you’re ready to brave the burn, one of our spiciest bars is Grim Reaper's Purgatory White Chilli chocolate. This bar is at the end of our spicy spectrum, with naga jolokia peppers (ghost pepper) that pack a punch. Though mixed with white chocolate, don’t be fooled — the sweetness only slightly softens the blow. Not for the faint of heart.
On the more gentle side, we have Montezuma's' Hot Pickle Chilli & Lime milk chocolate, a staff and visitor favourite and the perfect entry point. Gentle heat, bright lime, and smooth milk chocolate come together in a zesty, addictive balance. Another medium-spiced bar is South Devon Chilli Farm's Fruit & Spice dark chocolate. This bar is packed with dried fruit and warm spices for texture and sweetness, with a pleasant heat that appears after the flavours fade.
Again spiking to the extreme end, we have another Grim Reaper product, Dark Matter Chilli dark chocolate. This bar again uses fiery ghost-pepper alongside popping candy and peppermint for a fizzy, minty explosion. It’s loud, hot, and unforgettable — approach with caution.
And to round out our recommendations, Chocolate Tree's Mexico Aztec Spice uses heat in a unique way. Inspired by traditional Aztec methods: dark chocolate with sugar and spices added during the end of grinding for a chewy texture and warm chilli glow.
