Chilli & Spiced Chocolate
Our Guide to Chilli & Spiced Chocolate
Mild Spice 🌶
For a gently spiced chocolate, try out Chocolate Society's Chai Latte for its authentic warming spice blend of cinnamon, cardamon, ginger, nutmeg and cloves. For the colder winter months, Chocolate Tree's Winterspice Dark with gingerbread spices and citrus, or the Kernow Spiced Apple Crumble Milk with jelly pieces and shortcake biscuit, is a perfect chocolate to warm you up.
Medium Spice 🌶🌶
For a slight spicy kick in your chocolate, try out the Pacari Chilli dark chocolate. Made in Ecuador, it has a textured mouthfeel with a warming medium spice. Montezuma’s Hot Pickle is also medium spiced but also starts with a lovely lime citrus scent.
Chocolate Tree’s Mexico Stoneground Dark Chocolate perfectly captures the blend of cinnamon, nutmeg and black pepper which mimics the taste of Aztec chocolate. Its texture is authentic too with a very rough, grainy feel.
For something really different and you like the sound of chocolate that tastes like a fajita (yes, really), Stateside Texas BBQ might be right for you (unless you are a vegetarian)!
But perhaps our favourites are South Devon Chilli Farm's Honeycomb and Fruit & Spice with their perfectly balanced sweetness with chilli heat in rich dark chocolate.
Hot and Firey! 🌶🌶🌶
Those brave enough to try the Grim Reaper chocolates will be rewarded with smooth, creamy chocolate, exploding with the flavour of ghost peppers. The Hellraiser has notes of cinnamon, sweet orange and clove, while the Purgatory has hints of bergamot. The Black Widow has hints of cooling mint. Be warned, these chocolates are only for those with high spice tolerance levels!
The Alchemist’s Popping Candy Chilli, has a medium-high spice but with added popping candy and cooling mint balancing out the spice.
