Salted Chocolate
Our Guide to Salted Chocolate
Salted Caramel bars vary in their amount of salt, caramel flavour and bar texture, here are our recommendations from our visitors and our Guide Jenny.
Milk Chocolates
For a creamy, caramelly and sweet bar with a light hint of salt, Kernow’s Caramel Sea Salt is a great choice. Kernow also do a Billionaire’s Shortbread chocolate bar. The caramel flavours are infused into smooth & creamy milk and topped with shortcake biscuit pieces and just a hint of salt. All made in Cornwall with sustainably sourced cacao from the Ivory Coast.
If you want something more heavily salted, Coco’s Salted Caramel is a slightly textured, well-salted bar (with beautiful packaging too).
Harris and James' Salted Caramel is our favourite salted caramel bar. With generous caramel pieces and a buttery, almost homemade taste, it takes this flavour genre to the next level.
For something truly different but with a salted caramel vibe, Stateside’s Maple Bacon Pancake Milk Chocolate (yes, really) is one of the most popular bars among visitors in our Tasting Room.
Dark Chocolates
It is harder to obtain the caramelly flavour of Salted Caramel without milk but Chocolate Tree Sea Salt & Caramel does a pretty good job with its sprinkling of caramel on the top of the bar. Lightly salted, but with 70% cacao, there’s less caramel and more chocolate flavour. Bare Bones 68% Dominican doesn’t have a caramel topping and only contains cacao + sugar + a hint of salt. However, the natural caramel notes from the cacao beans earn it a place on the Salted Caramel page!
