Vegan Milk Chocolate
Vegan Milk Chocolate Bar Guide
Huge progress has been made over the last decade in creating genuinely delicious, creamy plant-based "milk" or "mylk" chocolates. Chocolate makers have experimented with oats, rice, coconut and nuts to create the creamy texture we love. Here are some of the best.
Plain Vegan Milk Chocolate
If you are looking for a straightforward plain milk vegan chocolate, your options are oat-based, rice based or coconut-based chocolates.
If you enjoy the taste of coconut milk, chocolate made with this tropical fruit has some of the loveliest textures of vegan milk chocolate. Chocolate Tree's 55% Coconut Dark-Milk Bar is delightful and slightly textured, whereas Mellow's Caribbean Coconut has slightly less cacao (50% cacao but has a smoother, melty, fudgier texture).
Guppy's Oat milk chocolate uses chocolate sourced from Colombia and is the best oat milk chocolate we've tried. However, there is a slightly oaty aftertaste, so if that is not for you, then the award-winning iChoc Classic, made with ingredients from rice, almonds and tiger nuts, is a fantastic plain milk chocolate.
Salted Flavours
Seed and Bean's Sea Salt and Orange Vegan Milk bar is a popular plant-based favourite for its soft and creamy orange flavour and light hint of salt. IChoc's Salty Pretzel sounds weird but is a fabulous flavour combination for those who like the sweet and salty combo!
Nutty Flavours
Chocolate Tree use finely ground hazelnuts to bring smooth creaminess to their Guianduja bar without the need for any dairy milk. Think Nutella in a high-class, ethical and beautiful bar.
IChoc's nutty offerings are a smooth vegan milk chocolate with hazelnut pieces in their Super Nut bar and their Orange and Almond with almond pieces mixed into creamy orange chocolate.
